What is a hybrid class?

A hybrid yoga class is taught from Iyengar Yoga London’s Maida Vale studios and simultaneously streamed online to students at home. They allow our teachers to reach as many students as possible while we have restricted numbers in the studio and many of our members are keen to keep up with their regular classes from home.

How can I tell if a class is a ‘hybrid’ when I book?

On the live timetable, a number of classes are scheduled with the same teacher and at the same time with the option to book for the ‘STUDIO’ or for the ‘LIVESTREAM’ class.

Which levels of hybrid class are on offer?

The Iyengar Yoga London Teaching Committee is offering Intermediate and General classes as hybrids. Students at a General level and above have been practising Iyengar yoga regularly for at least two years and have the experience to practise safely. Newer students, who need more detailed demonstration and a higher level of observation from the teacher, are recommended to attend studio classes only.

Will I still get enough attention from the teacher in a hybrid class?

Your teacher is available before the class in the studio and on Zoom if you need to let them know about any health concerns you have that may affect your practice. The hybrid class teachers all have many years of experience teaching studio classes and extensive experience of teaching online. This has given them the ability to oversee large numbers of students at one time and offer a good class experience both at home and in the studio.
